New York, NY — Today, exclusive reports from The Guardian revealed an internal 1994 Mobil Foundation memo overviewing how just as #ExxonKnew about the impact of fossil fuel use causing the climate crisis at least half a century ago, #MobilKnew too.
On these latest revelations, Bill McKibben, author and 350.org co-founder, issued the following statement:
“This is one more powerful reminder that we need to make polluters pay for the damage they’ve done; the climate crisis was no accident, and those most impacted aren’t responsible. That fault lies with the executives who chose fidelity to their business model over faithfulness to the truth and to our collective future.”
This comes weeks after activists took to ExxonMobil’s annual shareholder meeting in Dallas, TX with a 100-foot banner reading “Climate Crisis // #ExxonKnew // Make Them Pay.”
