Government Permission for Texas Oil Company to Break Burnaby Law is Unconscionable – 350.org Statement

In response to Canada’s National Energy Board granting Kinder Morgan permission to ignore Burnaby by-laws in beginning construction on their TransMountain pipeline terminal, Clayton Thomas-Muller, Stop-it-at-the-Source campaigner with 350.org issued this response:

“It was ridiculous when Justin Trudeau approved the Kinder Morgan pipeline ignoring Indigenous rights, climate change and communities, but it’s unconscionable that the NEB has given a Texas oil company permission to break local laws.”

“There’s an old saying about moral responsibility and disobeying unjust laws, and right now, the law that Justin Trudeau and the NEB are upholding, on the fossil fuel industry’s behalf, is looking pretty unjust.”
