“Designating the so-called Pacific Link pipeline as a Project of National Interest is a slap in the face of Canadians who will foot the $30-100 billion bill with our hard-earned tax dollars. In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis driven by Big Oil’s greed, it’s extremely irresponsible to throw public funds at a project that will make fossil fuel executives richer while Canadians absorb all the risk. This project would carry 1 million barrels a day of dirty tar sands oil to the BC coast, endangering my community members in the lower mainland, threatening habitats and wildlife, and making it impossible for Canada to meet its climate commitments. In the middle of a climate emergency, this is not nation-building, it’s nation burning.”
