USA — As Enbridge accelerates construction in Minnesota and opposition builds against Line 3 and the Dakota Access pipelines, more than 300,000 people have signed a petition to demand Biden stop both pipelines. To be a climate president, Biden must build on his rejection of the Keystone XL permit and stop Line 3 and the Dakota Access pipeline. Now is the time to implement a climate test on all federal permitting and projects to ensure any project not aligned with tackling the climate crisis and keeping warming under 1.5 degrees does not move forward.
On Thursday, February 25, we’re hosting a telepresser, bringing together community leaders from fossil fuel impacted communities on the frontlines of stopping Line 3 and the Dakota Access pipeline, and demanding a climate test.
WHAT: Telepresser & Virtual Rally, Tell Joe Biden: People Power Not Pipelines
WHEN & WHERE: Thursday, February 25 at 12:00 pm via Zoom. Register here.
WHO: Leaders on the frontlines of historic and ongoing pipeline fights demanding a climate test on all new fossil fuel projects. Speakers include:
-
- Winona LaDuke, Executive Director of Honor the Earth
- Tara Houska, Founder of Giniw Collective
- Keya Chatterjee, Executive Director of US Climate Action Network
- Nancy Beaulieu, RISE Coalition & MN350 Organizer
- Michael Guerrero, Executive Director of Labor Network for Sustainability
WHY: The urgency to stop new pipelines and face the climate crisis at scale is greater than ever: Biden must immediately stop Line 3 and DAPL and implement a Climate Test on all new fossil fuel projects.
Fossil fuel companies have doubled the number of billion-dollar climate disasters, lied about climate change, and their pollution killed more than 8 million people in one year. If we’re going to build back better, as the President says, we’ll need to end dangerous pipeline construction, prevent all new fossil fuels infrastructure, and #BuildBackFossilFree. Our movement for climate, jobs, and justice is rising to secure the livable future we all deserve.
