25 April, Amsterdam – Activists will stage a series of photogenic actions outside ING’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) to demand that the Netherland’s largest bank stops profiteering from fossil fuel expansion and climate chaos.
- Who: A range of ING clients, concerned citizens and climate activists will take part; they are supported by organisations that include Fossielvrij NL, Amnesty, Oxfam Novib, Christian Climate action, Extinction Rebellion and Cordaid.
- What: A highly visual action with activists holding two huge banners stating, “Stop financING the climate crisis” used to funnel shareholders and other attendees of the AGM into the building
- When: Monday, April 25th, 13.00-14.00 CEST
- Where: ING headquarters, Bijlmerdreef 106, Amsterdam
- Why: ING is the largest bank based in the Netherlands, and continues to finance the fossil fuel industry with billions of euros, even though it is clear this is not compatible with a livable planet. As stated in the most recent IPCC report we need financial institutions, like ING, to redirect financial support away from fossil fuels toward renewable alternatives. Therefore Dutch activists, including direct and indirect clients of ING, are calling on this bank to stop financing the fossil fuel industry.
