New York, NY — Over 5,000 people joined the #Sandy5 march in New York City today to remember all lost to Superstorm Sandy five years ago and to demand bold and immediate climate action from New York’s elected officials.

Participants began gathering at Cadman Plaza Park at 11:00am. By 12:00pm, the park was nearly at capacity with an estimated 3,500 people in the crowd. Around 1:00pm, over 5,000 people joined the #Sandy5 march to cross the Brooklyn Bridge and rally at the Alfred E. Smith Houses.

With youth of color leading the march, survivors of Hurricanes Harvey, Maria, Irma, and Katrina joined with New Yorkers in solidarity with impacted communities around the world.
