To the Australian Government -- Communities across Australia are standing up to stop coal and gas expansion and to strive for a just transition to 100% renewable energy.
Australians everywhere are showing you what real climate action looks like - it's time to catch up. This Spring and Summer I am joining the Road Through Paris plan to help build the power of our movement to get fossil fuel interests out of politics and to switch on renewables.
For years now, our political leaders have failed to keep fossil fuels in the ground and to protect our country and the climate. With 2015 on track to be the hottest year in recorded history, bold action is more critical than ever before.
And so communities from across Australia are standing up to demonstrate the leadership that is needed to turn off fossil fuels and to turn on renewables. But to change everything, we need everyone.
This December hundreds of world governments will meet in Paris to try and strike a global climate agreement. Once again the Australian Government looks like it will block strong climate action.
That’s why in the lead up to and beyond the Paris talks, our movement will be participate in bold and iconic actions to show that enough is enough –if our politicians won’t lead — then we will.
Here is 350 Australia’s map for what we call “The Road Through Paris”: the plan to grow our movement and hold our politicians accountable to the action we need. No matter what happens at Paris, this will continue to be true: Politicians don’t lead movements — people do.
We’ll come together in our communities to watch powerful films about the rise of our movement, discuss how we will build our Power Through Paris and get trained up in action skills.
On the eve of the Paris negotiations, tens of thousands of people will turn out around the country for the most diverse climate mobilisation ever held in Australia.
During the negotiations we’ll unite for iconic and powerful actions that will influence even the staunchest fossil fuel supporting politicians.
