Hi everyone. My name’s Julia, I’m a campaigner at 350.org Europe. You might have seen my name signed on emails from 350, asking you to take action. I definitely prefer to write than to record myself, but I wanted to share this short video to say a huge thank you to everyone who sent in their audio and video messages to the European Central Bank.
Last week, I asked you and other supporters in Europe to record a video or audio message to the European Central Bank, asking them to stop funding fossil fuel companies.
We received dozens and dozens of powerful, personal, thoughtful recordings in barely 2 days. It was way more than we could feature in the short, 2-minute-long video we pulled together to show to the ECB staff.
I’ve decided to record this short message because I believe we should always be ready to do what we ask of others, and I know that for some of you, recording yourself is as far out of your comfort zone as it is for me. And yet you did it, and I felt genuinely grateful to each and every single person who sent their recording last week. It felt powerful and humbling to be able to share your voices directly with the staff of the European Central Bank. It’s made a difference.
If you sent your recording but don’t see or hear yourself in the short video we created for the ECB, please know that we had to make hard choices and could only fit a small number of recordings in a 2-minute video. I’m very grateful for your message!
