On August 12th, a few young activists in Hyderabad, India gathered outside the infrastructure company, GVK’s office to protest against their terrible investment in Australian coal mining. This is what happened at the protest.

The peaceful activists were detained by the police and sent away forcefully. Below are images from the action and the amazing support that friends in Australia sent our way through messages of solidarity. But the message was heard loud and clear by GVK as a few of them confronted the activists with a strong denial of their project’s impacts.

The 10 billion USD Alpha coal mine, railway and port project could be a death knell for the Great Barrier reef and hundreds of Indian civilians where the coal will subsequently be burnt. The project was recently proven to be economically non-viable too.
