WEBINAR 1: Climate Insurgency

What: An intro to Climate Insurgency strategy, weaving together many strands of climate organizing–mass nonviolent direct action, freezing fossil fuel infrastructure, public trust, and just transition–into a global strategic framework.

When: This webinar streamed live on June 26, 2017.

WEBINAR 2: Using Public Trust Doctrine for Climate Protection

What: We are excited to have Julia Olsen, Executive Director and Chief Legal Counsel of Our Children’s Trust join us tonight. Rolling Stone calls their climate public trust lawsuit on behalf of young people against the US Government the “trial of the millennium.” A trial date has been set for January 5–a historic moment for the climate movements which has been recently covered by NPR, Bill Moyers, Slate, and Inside Climate News. We will also be joined by Jeremy Brecher, co-founder of Labor Network for Sustainability and author of Climate Insurgency, and who has written about how the climate movements can use “public trust” to flip the script and take mass nonviolent action against criminal violations of our public trust.

When: This webinar streamed live on July 5, 2017.

WEBINAR 3: JUST TRANSITION

What: How can we organize to avoid letting our opponents pit jobs, workers, and unions against climate, water and community protection? How can we build “just transition” that includes a better future for workers who produce and use fossil fuels, construction workers who build fossil fuel infrastructure, and communities that depend on them? With Richard Lipsitz, President. Western New York Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO.

When: This webinar streamed live on July 10, 2017.
