Athletes

Whether you play football with your mates on the weekend or ski for your country's Olympic team, we need you to put the physical movement in this climate movement. Whatever your interests and engagement in sports and athletics, we've got a way for you to tap in, get inspired, and make a difference.

Chahuapan, Veracruz MexicoFor the pros among you, we need your fame and good deeds. You all play your sports in the public spotlight and can lead the athletics world, and all its supporters, towards 350ppm. The 350Athletes have pledged their support—through their actions, voices, and notoriety, these athletes are backing the movement to move us back to 350ppm. All of the athletes seen here have taken steps to reduce their own carbon footprints and the carbon footprints of their respective sports. Email organizers[at]350.org to join them.

For those of us who are in a local or school sports team, be assured that you can make a difference without sponsorship or a camera crew behind you. Local teams are a perfect group to hold a 350 sports event. It's a way to ask friends to be a part of something that can be fun and easy, where they don't have to sit in a chair and listen to hours of lectures on climate change. Host a 350 tournament, or challenge your town rivals for a 350 game. If you're really dedicated, you can even play a game to 350...

And for those of you who just run on pure adrenaline, we know you already like to cycle, run, ski, climb, bungee jump, skydive, and fly in "squirrel suits". And we need high-profile actions that capture the media's attention and make people say, "This is amazing!" You always thought about that one base jumping expedition that you want to do. Assuming you know what you're doing, pack a 350 banner (or stitch it onto the top of your parachute) and go for it. Just don't hurt yourself, and make sure to snap some great photos!
