Central Okanagan Food Bank BC Wildfires Emergency Food Relief Fund
Due to the increased number of BC Wildfires throughout the Interior of BC, the Central Okanagan Food Bank is expanding it’s support and outreach to the region by supplying emergency food for any person or household currently displaced due to fire evacuations. Emergency food provisions are currently being made available for evacuated individuals affected by the BC Wildfires. Financial donations are urgently needed to ensure those displaced by the fires have the nutritional support needed to get back on their feet.
United Way BC
Bringing together the power of many to help those affected by BC Wildfires. Your donations helps us support a variety of programs and essential supports that are critical to BC residents as they recover emotionally and physically from the devastation of wildfires within our local communities. Funds go towards addressing important needs like food assistance, trauma, and mental health support.
United Way Northwest Territories
The United Way NWT is fundraising to support organizations helping evacuees from across the Northwest Territories who have left their homes due to the wildfires. More than $700,000 has been distributed so far to reception centres, women’s shelters, youth centres, local governments, Indigenous governments, and other organizations.
Yellowknife Women’s Society
On August 17th, the YKWS evacuated about 60 program participants and staff by air charter to privately arranged accommodations where we can continue care and support, due to mandatory evacuations from NWT wildfires. Grand Prairie Friendship Centre
As reported in the Calgary Herald, on Monday, Grande Prairie and High Level began hosting the first evacuees from the N.W.T. Friendship centres in both communities started being a haven for Indigenous residents.
