A Green New Deal must be built from the ground up. That’s why since May 2019, people from coast to coast have been collectively imagining a vision for a Green New Deal that will ensure our communities thrive.

These goals and policies do not make up the entirety of a Green New Deal for Canada. That’s why we’re working with allies from across communities, causes, and movements to fight for a broad, transformative vision for a massive economic and social mobilization to tackle the climate crisis. As the movement grows, we look forward to building this vision together.
Canada needs a plan to tackle climate change that listens to both science and justice. That means ending our reliance on fossil fuels and ensuring that the shift to 100% renewables is fair for people and communities.

500,000+ people across the country pushed the CBC to host a leaders’ debate on climate change and a Green New Deal. In the end, we made sure that climate was the most discussed topic in the official leaders’ debate.
Thousands of volunteers organized to get out the vote for Green New Deal Champions during the 2019 election. We helped elect a squad of 8 champions who are committed to fighting the climate crisis and rising inequality.
We wasted no time getting to work after the election. On October 28th 2019, 27 youth were arrested for occupying the House of Commons. They brought mandate letters calling on new MPs to govern for a Green New Deal. Moving forward, we are working with young leaders to keep the pressure up.
When the COVID-19 Pandemic hit, the veil was lifted on injustices and inequities that have existed for a very long time. That’s why we took action to demand a just recovery that sets us up to build back better with a Green New Deal
