On Nov 17th we
Sounded the Alarm
Today, the Trans Mountain Crown corporation held its AGM. As taxpayers, we are all shareholders in this company & we made sure CEO @JustinTrudeau heard us.

Politicians are not meeting the crises we’re facing at the scale we need. It’s up to us to shake them out of their complacency.
That’s why on November 17th, we sent a clear message that business-as-usual isn’t working. In this moment of a climate emergency, global pandemic, and economic recession, we need big, bold ideas.
Together, we made sure we were heard on the same day as the Trans Mountain (TMX) crown corporation’s Annual General Meeting. After all, Trudeau bought the Trans Mountain pipeline with our public money. That makes all of us unwilling shareholders in this Crown corporation. And we sent a clear message: it’s time to defund Trans Mountain and invest in a Green New Deal that works for people and the planet.
Dear Federal Party Leaders, Finance Minister, and Finance Critics,
Over the next few weeks, you will debate some of the most important policy proposals of our lifetime. That’s why I’m calling on you to Defund the Trans Mountain pipeline and invest in a Green New Deal instead.
We need every dollar we can get to build back better from COVID-19 and tackle the climate crisis at the scale science and communities require. In other words, we can’t afford to sink tens of billions of dollars in the Trans Mountain pipeline.
Defunding the Trans Mountain pipeline is the first step to funding a Green New Deal that tackles climate change, creates millions of decent jobs, and invests in our communities.
Here’s the plan:
Over the past few months, people all across the world have woken up to alarms, health warnings and evacuation alerts because of wildfires, storms, flooding, and dangerous air quality. They couldn’t ignore the climate crisis and neither should our politicians.
That’s why, on November 17th, on the morning of the Trans Mountain crown corporation’s annual meeting, communities across the country will take action together to sound the alarm and demand big, bold ideas like defunding TMX and investing billions of dollars into a Green New Deal.
At dawn on Tuesday, November 17, people across the country will gather together at MP offices, CBC buildings, and other high traffic spaces to SOUND THE ALARM on the climate emergency. In song and story, with noisemakers and light, we’ll shake politicians out of their complacency. Together, we’ll demand that they take decisive and bold action to defund TMX and invest in a Green New Deal.
Together, we’ll make sure we’re heard on the same day as the Trans Mountain (TMX) crown corporation’s Annual General Meeting. While oil executives discuss how they’re spending our tax dollars to build the climate-wrecking TMX pipeline, we’ll take to the streets across the country to send a clear message to federal leaders. We need action now to defund Trans Mountain and invest in a Green New Deal that works for people and the planet. It’s unacceptable that our federal government continues to sink billions into this pipeline in the midst of a climate emergency and global pandemic. But despite their best efforts to keep the public out of the conversation, we’re going to make sure that we are heard loud and clear.
If the meeting was in person, we’d be there, but since it’s online we’re taking action all across the country to demand that Prime Minister Trudeau listen to the thousands of us he’s made unwilling shareholders in this pipeline and defund Trans Mountain.
This AGM comes days before the federal government’s fall fiscal update which is important because it’s when the government makes its current budget numbers public. We’re expecting confirmation of what we already know: the pipeline keeps getting more expensive and keeps making less sense.
