Aug 10 – Links to Support BC Wildfires
- Support Okanagan Indian Band: The Bradley Creek Wildfire has destroyed over 200 homes on Okanagan Indian Band Land and the entire reserve has been evacuated. This is a list of crowd funders and and mutual aid links that have been shared by OKIB community members.
- Community Foundation North Okanagan: Multiple wildfires are burning across the North Okanagan and neighbouring areas this season. The Wildfire Response 2026 Fund is a trusted, local place to give — supporting evacuees and families across our region, including Okanagan Indian Band community members, through relief now and as we respond to whatever this season brings.
- Central Okanagan Food Bank: Support a range of support for the developing needs of evacuees: boxes of comfort snack foods, boxes with multiple nutritious and simple to prepare meals with utensils and can openers included, as well as hampers with diverse and fresh foods that suit the needs and preferences of individuals and families in temporary living situations.
- Help Summerland: This is a community board for emergency mutual aid. Anyone can post what they HAVE (shelter, food, supplies) or what they NEED. Contact posters directly via the info provided. No account needed.
July 16 – Links to Support Ontario Wildfires
Thousands of people have been evacuated as out-of-control wildfires rage through Northern Ontario and beyond. We’ll keep an up-to-date list of donation links and other ways to help here.
- True North Aid: Prioritize Indigenous self-determination and community-led change by donating to True North Aid’s General Fund.
- Mikinakoos’ Wildfire Response Fund: Mikinakoos Children’s Fund is a charity created to address poverty by providing basic amenities, such as food, clothing, and equipment to First Nations children residing in remote First Nations communities.
- Canadian Red Cross Wildfire Fund: Your support may be used to address preparedness, immediate relief, and longer-term recovery for wildfire events within Canada.
- Regional Food Distribution Association of Northwestern Ontario: Feeding evacuee families arriving in Thunder Bay.
- Whitesand First Nation: Send an e-transfer to [email protected] to support Whitesand First Nation, Armstrong, Ontario. Add your full name to the e-transfer comment section. Whitesand First Nation will issue receipts for tax purposes.
- Anishinabek Nation: Send an e-transfer to [email protected].
- Moon Time Connections: Donate to provide menstrual supplies.
