EPA Director Tries to Gaslight Americans Into Believing Climate Rollbacks Benefit Them

National, U.S. – Lee Zeldin, the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this week announced a massive rollback of more than 30 key decisions and regulations meant to protect the environment. Zeldin called it “the greatest day of deregulation this nation has ever scene,” celebrating it “driving a dagger through the heart of [advocates for climate justice].” Scientists and climate groups far and wide sounded the alarm when Trump appointed Zeldin, a known climate denier, head of the EPA, and again worn of the massive consequences these rollbacks pose.

JL Andrepont, U.S. Senior Policy Analyst, 350.org, responds:

“This is unequivocally a dangerous decision for our planet and people. We must not be misled by the Trump administration’s language: What they are calling ‘The Great American comeback’ is a farce and has been all along. This plan benefits only the wealthy elite who are rolling back every protection we have and undoing decades of climate protection—with absolutely zero public benefit—and disproportionate harm to already marginalized communities.”
