350.org on House Tax Plan: “Trump wants to subsidize climate change”

Washington, D.C. – In response to the House Tax Plan, 350.org Executive Director May Boeve said:

“The fossil fuel executives accumulating unfathomable wealth by ruining our climate want a huge tax break. The House tax plan gives it to them: cutting the corporate tax rate almost in half from 35 to 20 percent and eliminating taxes and extending write offs on pipelines, drills, mines, and refineries. At the same time, this dirty deal eliminates and reduces incentives for renewables – throwing fossil fuel executives a lifeline as they increase taxes on clean energy. Trump and his allies in Congress want to subsidize climate change. This scam will make oil oligarchs billions and cost Americans trillions, and we can’t let that happen. This plan is not only bad for the American people, it is bad for the planet.”
