350.org Statement Supporting 3 Sarnia Line 9 Arrestees

Winnipeg – 350.org Stop it at the Source campaigner Clayton Thomas-Muller issued this statement in response to the arrest and charging of 3 peaceful activists at a pumping station on the Line 9 pipeline route earlier this week.

“The real danger here is the tar sands, not peaceful activists taking action because of Canada’s abject failure to adequately consider the real impacts of tar sands pipelines. We support the three people arrested yesterday because the Enbridge Line 9 pipeline has been approved and turned on with no consideration for the impacts on climate change and without consent from Indigenous communities along the pipeline route – including the Chippewas of the Thames who are presently taking a challenge to this pipeline approval to the Supreme Court.”
