Paris Implementation & Pipelines Don’t Mix – 350.org Responds To North American Leaders Climate Partnership

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 29, 2016 (Vancouver, BC) — In response to today’s joint North America climate change announcement, 350.org Tar Sands Campaign Manager Cam Fenton issued the following statement:

“Announcements like today’s from the governments of the United States, Mexico and Canada are great signals, but what we’re really looking for is action to back them up. Canada can’t simultaneously implement the Paris agreement and build tar sands expanding pipelines like Kinder Morgan and Energy East. Canada has a big part to play in taking bold and urgent action to transform its economy and reinvest in 100% renewable energy, and that means doing what it takes to keep fossil fuels in the ground.”
