Washington, D.C. — Tens of thousands of people are expected to take to the streets in Washington, D.C. and across the country on Saturday, April 29th for the Peoples Climate March, a mobilization for climate, jobs and justice. 350.org has been one of the lead organizations behind the effort.
Who: The Peoples Climate Movement is a coalition of over 900 organizations, from local groups to some of the largest social justice, environmental, labor, and progressive organizations in the country. A full list of organizations can be found here.
What: There are over 375 sister marches planned across the United States and around the world, from Japan to Brazil. The main march will take place in Washington, D.C. where tens of thousands of people will rally at the Capitol, march up Pennsylvania Avenue, completely surround the White House, and take part in a closing rally at the Washington Monument.
Where: In Washington, D.C. the march begins at the Capitol. There will be a media availability at Union Square, 3rd and Jefferson, from 9:15am to 10:30am, followed by a press conference from 10:30am to 11:00am.
When: The opening press conference for the D.C. rally will take place at 10:30am. The march will kick-off at 6th St. and Pennsylvania Ave at 12:30pm. The White House action will take place at 2:00pm. The closing rally will begin at around 3:30pm.
Why: The Trump Administration’s policies are a catastrophe for our climate and communities, especially low-income and communities of color who are on the front lines of this crisis. Our movement is coming together to stand up for climate, jobs and justice and a demand a new clean energy economy that creates good jobs and fights inequality and injustice.
