Join dozens of organizations and thousands of people across the country in demanding that our leaders defend Black lives and fight for a just recovery from this pandemic. Find important ways to take action on this toolkit.
We, as white people and non-Black people of color, pledge to take action for Black Lives. We recognize that as non-Black climate activists in the United States, we have varying degrees of privilege that can be used to fight for the end of anti-Black systems of oppression, from racist policing to environmental racism. We know that the climate crisis is caused by systems of exploitation and extraction that dehumanize Black, Indigenous and Communities of Color. We recognize anti-Black racism impacts all of us, in the US and around the world. For our humanity and our survival, we all have a stake in dismantling racism.
Our commitment to showing up for racial justice is both immediate and for the long haul.
Right now, as we are able, we commit to:
As we continue to fight for climate justice, we commit to ensuring our work addresses the racial injustice that is at the core of the climate crisis. We will:
With Black lives on the line, whether from police violence or climate catastrophe, there is no time for neutrality. We commit to take action, and to invite our white and non-Black people of color family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to join us.
Written with gratitude for the leaders of the Movement for Black Lives, Reclaim the Block, Black Visions Collective, and everyone taking the streets for a more just world for all of us.
