Washington, DC — In response to the Obama Administration’s announcement of finalized new standards for flaring and venting gas to reduce methane pollution, Linda Capato Jr., 350.org’s Fracking Campaign Coordinator, issued the following statement:
“Protecting our communities from the immediate risks of fracking and the devastating impacts of climate change means keeping fossil fuels in the ground. While we appreciate that the White House is regulating dangerous methane pollution and considering communities on the frontlines of fracking, there is no amount of regulation that could make fracking or fossil fuel infrastructure safe. To truly protect communities and our climate, we must end fracking on public lands and continue to strengthen our protections of communities across the country.”
