350.org launches a global search for an Executive Director to lead the next phase of campaigning for climate justice

Executive Director of 350.org, May Boeve, to step down after 15 years of building global activist movement

After fifteen years of building 350.org, including thirteen as Executive Director, May Boeve has decided it’s the right time to move on, having grown 350 from a student-led university collective to a global organization of 144 staff in over 25 countries supporting a network of 500 local groups.

“This is a decision I’ve thought long and hard about, and it’s clear to me on so many levels that now is the right time – for me, and for 350. It has been a wonderful journey and a tremendous privilege to build this organization from our first day of action in 2009 to the global powerhouse we are today. ”

Under May’s leadership, 350 has grown the global divestment movement, created high-profile campaigns and mobilizations to stop fossil fuels, and supported thousands of activists and movements around the world.

An exciting new chapter is about to begin for 350.org as they launch a truly global search for a new Executive Director to take over the reins later this year. Starting today, the global campaigning organization has opened applications to find a new visionary, inclusive leader for this next phase, to strengthen a people-powered movement for climate justice solutions.

350 have also recently entered a new phase in campaigning – taking what they’ve learned after 15 years of fighting the fossil fuel industry to champion the transition to renewable energy in communities around the world. They are demanding world leaders fund renewable energy projects instead of dirty fossil fuels and showing that people want affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy, now.

This new leader will provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and leadership to catalyze the climate solutions that science and justice demand in this ‘decisive decade.’
