350.org on Pruitt’s Latest Climate Denial

Washington, DC — This morning, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt told CNBC that he doesn’t believe carbon dioxide is a primary cause of global warming and wants Congress to reconsider whether the EPA should regulate CO2 as a pollutant.

In response to this claim, Jamie Henn, 350.org Strategic Communications Director, issued the following remarks:

“This is like your doctor telling you that cigarettes don’t cause cancer. Pruitt’s statement isn’t just inaccurate, it’s a lie. He knows CO2 is the leading cause of climate change, but is misleading the public in order to protect the fossil fuel industry. The American people overwhelmingly support climate action, which is why we’ll be marching in the streets this April 29th with the Peoples Climate March to pushback on this sort of dangerous denial.”

As Pruitt and the Trump administration offer a dark and regressive vision for the world, movements for climate, jobs and justice are gearing up to bring the fight for our future to Washington, DC on April 29. The Peoples Climate March will demonstrate mass resistance to the systems attempting to divide us, and present the powerful vision for a 100% renewable energy economy that works for all.
