350.org on Tillerson dodging climate question on #ExxonKnew

Washington, DC — At today’s Senate hearings about his nomination for Secretary of State, recent former ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson dodged questions about the fossil fuel company’s decades-long knowledge of climate change and funding of climate denial.

In response, 350.org Executive Director May Boeve issued the following statement:

“Tillerson is still lying about what Exxon knew about climate change. Asked directly about the company’s climate cover-up, Tillerson demurred and denied. We need a Secretary of State who acknowledges that the climate crisis requires bold action, not an oil industry CEO who is dedicated to spreading misinformation. Tillerson deserves a federal investigation into Exxon’s lies, not a cabinet appointment.”

Freeze New Fossil Fuel Development

Governments meeting at the next climate conference must put their Paris pledges into action -- and action means no more room for new fossil fuel projects.
