Some of us were in Seattle for the meeting of the World Trade Organization. It was one of the first examples of a truly global movement. So it was fitting that around North America today people marked the occasion by demonstrating about our first truly global problem. I was at a spirited gathering in Burlington Vermont–there was civil disobedience in Chicago, San Francisco, and elsewhere, as people made the case that we need action, not financial manipulation, to get us back to 350.
