Students are not waiting for their administrators to agree to green the campus, they are taking matters into their own hands.  Hundreds of students used their green thumbs today in a symbolic tree planting in a quarry site on the University of San Carlos campus in Cebu City, Philippines. The planting took place after plans were announced to pour concrete in the quarry by the administration.  Earlier this week students had a sit down meeting with the chairperson of the committee of the environment and laid out their demands for a bold emission cuts and innovative green programs on campus, but the administration is just not moving fast enough. So what started out as a fifty person tree planting activity ballooned to a three hundred person activity today with studnets planting dozens of trees. These students are prepared to stand by and protect their newly planted trees and their nature spaces on campus.
