The world has witnessed the power of art in difficult times. Creative expression can not only help us cope with the emotional and mental toll of crises, it can also push the gears of change into motion. As we fight through the COIVD-19 pandemic, we hope this new Just Recovery Art Kit can be all of this and more. But we need your input to make it as powerful as possible.

Today, we are living through the increasingly alarming climate crisis as well as a global health pandemic. Hundreds of organizations are calling for a united global response that ensures a just recovery and transition to a better future for those most in need in the wake of this crisis. We know that the choices we make today will shape our society, economy, and climate for decades to come.

Art is a key way we can build connections, engage people, tell our story, and demand change. We believe that even if many of us cannot leave our homes, we can still create powerful art together to push for justice and help us all to heal from this crisis.

What can you do?

Create. We want to see your #JustRecovery artwork, be it a poster, a meme, a graphic or a song. If you and your friends are handy with a marker or crayon, these visual art builds are a great way to collaborate during a time of physical distancing. If you fancy yourself a bit of a singer, the Global Music Video for a Just Recovery is looking for video and audio submissions and we need your voices to make it happen.

We know that time to create can be a luxury for many, so we’ve included ready-made #JustRecovery designs and graphics that you can turn into posters, stickers, banners or signs.

Many artists have already felt compelled to create art that showcases the urgency for solidarity, community, and action. In the Just Recovery Art Kit, you can find their work available to download and share.

Share your story

For all of the powerful and beautiful artwork that you do create or re-share, all you have to do is upload it on to Instagram with the #JustRecovery hashtag and it can be included in the Just Recovery Art Kit.

What makes art most powerful is the story that inspires it. We also want to hear your story of what a just recovery from COVID-19 means to you. We believe that responses at every level must uphold these five principles for a just recovery and you can share what each or all of these principles would look like for your community. Share these stories alongside your artwork or tweet them with the #JustRecovery hashtag so that we can share.

The global response to COVID-19 could ensure a just recovery for everyone in the wake of this crisis, and you can lend your creative voice to demanding that this is the future we see.
