The Green New Deal Rising Leadership Programme is a fully funded 6-month training programme for 40 people aged 18-30 from 10 places around the UK.
The Programme will build your skills and leadership, and help you to kickstart Green New Deal campaigning in your community. It’s free, fully funded, and designed to fit around work and other commitments.
You’ll get to take part in two intensive training weekends with some of the UK’s leading campaigners, have opportunities to plan and take action with other young people in your area and around the country, and get support and resources to get started leading the charge in your community.
The Leadership Programme runs from June to November 2022. By the end of the Programme you’ll have the skills, confidence and direct experience of campaigning and organising to become a leader in the fight for a Green New Deal.
The Programme is being jointly run and funded by 350.org and Green New Deal Rising.
We’re looking for young people with passion and energy who want to make change happen (and make new friends on the way).
We welcome all levels of experience in campaigning or community work, and we don’t care where you work or if you’ve been to university. We’re looking for people who care about justice and understand the urgent need for change in our society, our government, our communities.
The Leadership Programme is specifically designed for marginalised or under-represented young people.
You can apply to take part if:
Not from one of the places listed? You can still apply to be part of the Leadership Programme by making a group application. If you can find 2-4 other people in your area who want to do the programme with you, you can submit a group application no matter where you’re based.
If you don’t meet the application criteria but still want to apply, get in touch with Ellen to talk about your application: [email protected] or via Whatsapp.
Applications are now closed!
To apply there is an application form which asks you one main question: What issue or cause are you passionate about and why?
You can answer in writing (maximum of 250 words) or by sending a video or audio recording of your answer to the question (maximum of 3 minutes long) to [email protected].
Don’t worry about being formal or using the right language – we’re trying to get a sense of who you are so answer in your own words and tell us whatever you want us to know!
We also ask for your contact details and about your background so we know if you meet the application criteria and can get a sense of who is applying to ensure we have a diverse cohort.
Once we’ve read all the applications we will invite about 60 people to a short informal phone interview, and then select 40 for the programme.
Once you begin filling in the form you can’t save your progress so we recommend only starting the form once you’ve thought about your answer and have time to fill it all in – this should take about 10 minutes.
If you have any questions or concerns about applying, get in touch with the Programme Coordinator, Ellen: [email protected] or via Whatsapp
The deadline for applications has been extended to 9am, Monday 25th April.
Got a question not answered here? Contact Programme Coordinator, Ellen: [email protected] or via Whatsapp.
