350.org on the Senate cloture vote for Gorsuch

Washington, DC — Today, the U.S. Senate enacted the so-called “nuclear option” and voted on cloture for Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s nominee for U.S. Supreme Court Justice, who is a friend of Big Oil executives and a foe to workers, the disabled, and the climate.

In response, 350.org Executive Director May Boeve issued the following statement:

“Today’s cloture vote is par for the course in Trump’s America — throwing out the rules to advance this administration’s hate-filled, climate-denying agenda. Gorsuch’s views are clear: he’s for corporate power and against protecting the climate, the environment, workers, and our communities. But unlike Trump, if Gorsuch is confirmed, he’ll have a lifetime to enforce those views on the public. Thousands of people will take to the streets this month, from the April Recess to the Peoples Climate March, to demand climate action and protect our future. Gorsuch is on the side of big polluters instead of the people — it’s time for Senators to decide whose side they’re on.”
