350.org Responds to Energy East Review Reset

Montreal, QC – In response to the National Energy Board panel announcement that the Energy East Pipeline review has been voided and must restart, 350.org’s Canadian Tar Sands Campaign Coordinator Aurore Fauret issued this statement:

“Sending the Energy East pipeline back to square one is the first rational thing Justin Trudeau’s government has done when it comes to pipelines. He’s already approved two pipelines, Line 3 and Kinder Morgan, without any real consideration of climate change or Indigenous rights, and he’s letting Donald Trump dictate the fate of a third with Keystone. The Energy East review can’t start until Canada has a pipeline review process that listens to communities and respects science, and Trudeau won’t be a climate leader until he learns some basic science. You don’t transition off fossil fuels by building more fossil fuel infrastructure”
