Rafters and guides participate in Climate Impacts Day at Mother Lode
River Center before putting on the South Fork of the American River’s
“Gorge” whitewater run. The Center and the entire Coloma/Lotus Valley
were devastated by an unprecedented flood in 1997 that geologists now
suspect was due to climate change induced by human fossil fuel
consumption. To reduce fossil fuel use by 80% the “EcoBus” now runs on
waste vegetable oil, the camp has converted to solar hot water, and
a 6KW solar electric system was acquired. It is not enough. Unite now
to save the planet!
